An Addition to the Family

Presenting "Princess Buttercup" the newest member of our family. (The name might not stick- we are also trying out Pepper Pots, Fire Cat, and Sarah- but the girls seem to like Princess Buttercup the most) She was born about two months ago and has 5 siblings. Yesterday we got the call from our friend that their kittens were old enough now for us to come get one and so we rushed right over. The girls picked her out and named her.
They were so excited and spent all evening playing with her. She has a very comfy bed and a blankie that Kendyl (our blankie expert) was sure she'd love and you guessed it. She spent a little bit of time in it, but when it was time for bed she would have nothing to do with it and slept on Seth's head and neck all night. :) It's just a little ironic since Seth was fairly adamant before we got her that she would sleep and have her litter box down in the basement in the storage room and here she was, two floors above the basement sleeping on him all night. hehehe (I may have enjoyed that too much)

Okay so we have more news than that. Actually bigger news!
AaaaaaHHHHHhhhhhHHHh! :) We're a little over two months along!!!! So of course I am spending a lot of time with this....

I'm actually not as sick this time as with both my girls, but still pretty sick. You know, maybe throwing up a few times a day instead of a few times an hour. (I know, too much information) So, we are thinking maybe it's a boy or else my body is older and doesn't go through the same amount of trauma. Hopefully it wont last for 7 to 8 months like my other pregnancies. Keep your fingers crossed. :) Anyway, this is why I've been MIA for a while and will probably be for a while more. I'm just doing all I can to try and let this baby grow inside me and make a meal every once in a while for the kids (and cute man) that are already here.

When I got your e-mail I was thinking baby. Then, saw the kitty and was disappointed. Then saw the test and was thrilled again!!!!

I am thrilled for you guys!!! Congrats! Noah and Kalli are 5 years apart and Haleigh is 9 years older than Kalli... very similar. I wouldn't change it for the world! I didn't have to worry about sibling rivalry and they are the biggest helpers!

Thanks for sharing the news, you win the Biggest Surprise News award this month and I love that you showed us the PG test that you pee'd on. lol!

Congratulations!!! I hope that you aren't sick for 7 or 8 months too. That would be the worst.

Congrats. That is so exciting, a new Hippen. And a new cat, you are WAY nicer than I am. Good luck with everything and remember to get as much sleep as possible, it will make you feel better.
ps there is nothing wrong with cereal and mac and cheese at least 7 times a week.

Congrats! Glad you haven't been feeling too sick!

Your kitty is adorable. Lauren would LOVE to have a cat, but two dogs is more than enough for me.

Ahhhh! I'm so excited for you guys! Not so excited for you having to be sick - but it's so worth it! We need to get together again sometime soon.

Let me know if you want me to bring you some Ginger Ale sometime - that helped me a lot when I was sick.

Yay Karalenn!!!!! That is so exciting! By the way, you should name the cat Sarah (if I have any say in it). Love you!

So exciting!!!! I love the cat part. We started with one kitty that looks exactly like yours and now we have two so they could be "friends". It was all Sam's idea and I am still not very thrilled about it. oh well :) I think you should name the cat Sarah too, great idea Marian. Congrats on the baby. I hope it goes by very quickly and you lose that lovely white thing as a friend as soon as possible.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
Lucky kid to come to such an awesome family. You should give him an in-utero name like "Thunder Cat" or "Optimus Prime" since a boy is on the way. Good luck Kare, I wish I could come steal your girls so you could nap!

Oh, you trickster you! And, here I thought the new addition was the kitten...only to scroll down and get the punch-line delivered with a KA-POW.

Congratulations to your "little family." I'm so happy for you all. What a blessing! I get the feeling, this one might be a boy!

(Seth, just make sure that Karalenn doesn't clean the cat box. There's a cat disease for indoor/outdoor cats called Toxoplasmosis that's in cat poop. You can get a test for your cat, and a pill to get rid of it should the kitty have the disease, but all in all don't let her clean the cat box!)

Congrats!

Woo Hoo! I am so happy you are pregnant, hopefully you start feeling better quick.

Oh, that cat is cute, and I like the name Pepper Potts, we have seen that movie twice already (it's a small, boring town). Anyhow, congratulations.

Oh, someone else responded with woo hoo also. Oh well.

Kar - And to think that I was getting all excited that you were going to name your cat after me! It brought me back to college days you rascal! Congrats on the baby. I know how hard pregnancies are for you so we'll keep you in our prayers. Ethan is pretty used to saying "and bless mommy that she will feel better". I'll feel your pain sister. Did you get my callback?

Hooray and congratulations, Hippens! That's very cool. And I'm talking about the upcoming baby here. I'm not sure I'm a fan of cats, but babies are awesome.

Congratulations on your new additions!! I hope that you start feeling better soon.

Congrats Karalenn! And here's hoping for a boy. I'm sure that Seth will appreciate having another man around the house (even a little one) now that he has a cute princess kitty sleeping on his head at night. Not that he or anyone could help but adore any of the Hippen girls...

Don't your girls have a cousin named Sarah who thinks she is a dog? Wouldn't that confuse her?
Love ya and your little trickyness!

Ok, so now that I'm home I'll admit, the cat was fun to play with. There, I said it!

Oh yes, so it is in writing. A new Hippen child to corupt with cartoons from the 80's and 90's! YAY!

J. Martin said...

Oh, one more thing, does this mean I can talk about you being pregnant? :D

The Dials said...

congratulations Hippen family!!! That is so exciting. We wish you the best and hope that the sickness doesn't last long.

megan said...

you probably won't see this now, because it's been a while, but I thought I left a comment long ago, but i guess it didn't go through for whatever weird reason. Congratulations on your cat, but even bigger congrats on being pregnant! I'm so so sorry you get so sick when you are pregnant, it's just so awful and cruel! So here's hoping you don't have to endure it for so long. In fact, here's hoping you have a fabulous second and third trimester. And when you're feeling like you can tolerate the smell, let me make you a chicken pot pie for you and your family. That is, if you like chicken pot pie.

Okay, so I'll admit it now. I have occassionally snuck onto your blog. Your projects are just too fun to not sneak a peek at once in a while. (Oh, this is Hanna's friend, Melissa, by the way. The one over at her place last week when you dropped your girls off.) I just wanted to tell you how much fun my Molly had with Kendyl. She keeps telling me all about the fun things they did and how much she likes her "new friend Kendyl". Hope the doc was able to give you something good to help with the sickness.

WEOOOWHHH!! Right on!! I'm so excited for you guys! Watch, it's going to be a boy! :-) I remember you saying to me a long time ago that you couldn't picture yourself as a Mom to a boy. :-) You would be an awesome Mom to a boy, just like to your girls....just maybe he wouldn't so many crafts and stuff! ha ha But, Man!! Those girls are so talented and it's no wonder knowing about Seth's talents and then looking at your amazing paintings! I had no idea, you are awesome!!

Miss you!

I'm your superfan! I was hoping another Hippen would join the world. What a lucky kid to be a part of your family. I hope you feel better soon...mostly for you because it's the pits, but for the rest of us, too, so we can see all the cool things you're up to.
